Mount Thor by Cory Trépanier

Story of the Painting from the Artist’s Point of View:

Thor Peak, named after the Norse god of thunder, has the world’s tallest vertical drop with its sheer granite face towering over four thousand feet. The excitement was palpable as I flew into Baffin Island, seeing vast granite mountains and glaciers from the air. Hiking through Auyuittuq National Park along the Weasel River and crossing the Arctic Circle, I eventually stood beneath Thor Peak’s imposing shadow. After days of exploring and sketching, I realized capturing its grandeur on a small canvas was impossible. The true essence of Thor Peak demanded a much larger canvas back in my studio.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWQ5HKQVEx8
